2015

Summer at Pratt

In July of 2015, I participated in a one month summer art program at Pratt-Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute where I focused on painting, color theory, and observational drawing. It was there that I developed a deeper understanding of color and its power, a skill I've carried with me into my current pieces, especially my illustrations.  This program is also where I met Jenna North, one of the most influential artists in my life thus far.

2015-2017

Internship with Jenna North

After working as a student under the professorial guidance of Jenna, I got the pleasure to work with her as an intern, assistant, and friend. In my few years with her, I learned valuable lessons about being a working artist in a city among skills necessary to produce and show one's own work. Beyond that, I was lucky enough to help an amazing artist with a fantastic mind accomplish beautiful works of art. Working with Jenna was by far the most influential experience of my life, from participating in her art film (and almost being knocked out with a broom) to listening to local bands practice next door while we cleaned into the night.

2016

NYSSSA

In 2016 I attended a month long program at the New York State Summer School for the Arts (NYSSSA) in SUNY Fredonia. I took classes in figure drawing and experimental sculpture, guided by incredible professors from all over the nation. It was here that I began a journey into a deeper vision for my work and where I learned my most valuable skills in rendering the human figure.

2017 - future

The Daily Orange

My journey at The Daily Orange began my first semester at Syracuse University in fall of 2017. I wrote arts articles for the pulp section and got a taste of journalism alongside talented students from the Newhouse School here. When an opportunity opened up in my field of study, I took it eagerly. I was hired as the Illustration Editor in Spring of 2017, a job I currently hold and love. It has been the best time of my life, allowing me great experiences and practice in what I enjoy most. I hope to continue there until graduation.
